Meter Data Management focuses on data quality
and controlling the information flood that utility companies constantly face.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure handles all aspects of meter data collection. It can communicate with any automatic or smart metering device, and organizes the manual meter reading processes.

Meter readers can use MECOMS™ on wireless portable terminals for their meter reading rounds. Both regular rounds and on demand reading requests are handled through MECOMS™ Mobile.

These portable devices give meter readers access to relevant information (such as meter location within a building). Furthermore, meter readings are validated immediately when entered in the device.

MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus (SMCB) manages Smart Metering assets and the complex communication with these assets in a multi-brand, multi-protocol and multi-user environment. It offers two-way communication and is capable to scale up to millions of smart meters, using smart meter unification and load balancing.

Although the communication handling has to be coordinated with other processes, they need to be kept separated. Adding a new protocol should not directly influence the billing cycle of customers.

MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus tackles both aspects. It guarantees a comprehensive management of the metering assets, while at the same time offering the flexibility to link several different proprietary protocols to each other and the central system.

In addition, MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus supports ‘push’ as well as ‘pull’ AMI architectures.

For AMR Meters, the MECOMS™ AMR Meter Reading Appliance is used to connect to a wide range of AMR meters with various protocols and communication methods (Dial up, GPRS,...) MECOMS™ even supports real time and near real time metering.

Ensuring quality of meter readings and consumption is essential for Customer Satisfaction and Cost Serve Optimisation.

MECOMS™ Validation allows the definition of business validation rules in a user-friendly manner, without any development. Multiple rules can be active at any point in time, and prioritized to match changing business needs.

MECOMS™ Calculation calculates consumptions from raw meter readings. This can involve data from one single meter or a set of meters. Estimations, based on profiles or historical data, can be substituted in case of missing meter readings.
