Alan, Meter Reading Coordinator

Alan coordinates the meter reading processes at OmegaPoint, a major utility company. He ensures that quality meter reading are gathered and made available to all business processes.

On the one hand he has a team of meter readers who perform manual meter readings at customer’s premises. On the other hand he is responsible for collecting the data from automatic and smart meters. Customers of OmegaPoint also have the possibility to make use of a wide variety of self service tools.

Follow up on the manual meter reading operations

Alan’s goal is to have the meter readings available on time and to ensure the quality of the meter readings. He uses the MECOMS™ status dashboards to follow up his operation against planning.

Plan routes for on-demand and periodic meter readings

MECOMS™ has a GIS-based route optimization engine to save time and money. Routes are transferred to PDA’s of the meter readers.

Collect meter data submitted by customers

MECOMS™ offers a Web Portal, an Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR) system and OCR card scanning.

These automated services reduce costs while their diversity increases customer satisfaction. This helps Omega Point reducing costs and improve customer interaction.

Read all sorts of automatic meters

MECOMS™ offers a Meter Data Repository. It handles Power Line Carrier, PSTN, Mobile, Internet,... and supports various meter reading protocols. Furthermore, MECOMS™ interfaces with other meter data collection systems.

Roll out smart meters across the customer base

The MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus drives two way communication with the meters. This is a core functionality to keep up with the Smart grid demands.
